Hello to you all again.Who's enjoying the summer freeze!?
On to the point.
I did get help ,filling in my DLA form,by the local DIAL volunteer. She gave advice-expect to fail, hope for sucess!
Since then ,I have got worse...Methatroxate by mouth isn't working ,so in 3 more slow weeks I have a hospital appointment for injecting it into my tummy!
Because I have to wait the Rheumy Nurse gave me an injection of Depo-Medrone 120mg.I thought this was given to relieve symptoms????
It hasnt?????????I have some score of 5.61
Now I have a visit from a DWP medical"approved health care professional"
Anyone got useful advice for me??
What will they ask?Is it a horrid trickey situation,or do they listen? Any useful points ,all gratefully absorbed!
Bless you all.

Phillipa I've not a home visit but I know others have.
The advice I would give is not to rush around tidying up before they come, try and behave as if it is one of your worst days (which it very rarely is when a visit like this is being made!). Make sure that any aids you use are handy and nearby.
Don't rush to put the kettle on and make tea, in fact as this is one of the most difficult things to do sometimes, ask if they want a drink would they mind making it themselves cos today is a not day for you.

Answer any questions as if it is the worst case scenario.
YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Do you know when the 'professional' is coming?

In addition to Julie's good advice, perhaps you could get the NRAS Booklets out? Although I have not had a home visit, I did make a list over the previous days, of all the things I did, that caused pain, or difficulty. Doing this can be quite depressing, especially if you are trying to get on with your life, but has been useful to look back on.

Good luck with the injections. I am on them, and much prefer it, although I used to hate needles.

Thanks ,both of you for the advice.I must say I am not looking forward to it at all!I will answer as if it is a bad day, which is easy ...as I am having so many of them right now!Heres hoping for a kind visitor!I guess with government pressures, they are "encouraged "to be less than generous in their assessment.
As for the injections.....I really hope they make a difference.Apparently 4 out of 5 do respond better to them.Fingers crossed!
Take care of yourselves,
Best wishes,
Philippa xx

Hi Possible,

If possible, have someone with you when they visit.
Good luck.

Phillipa,
Julie's advice is good.
You must act as though you are at your worst and not best, which can be hard.
Please be careful, I had my DLA removed as a result of an ESA medical. I don't mean to frighten you, but you must show how you are at your worst.
I did not have mine at home.
good luck,
